"AMERICANS, LISTEN UP!
I joined the Elks in 2017 because all my buddies were joining at the same time. My initial attitude was that it was a cheap place to pre-game before we went out. With $3 wells and $2.50 pints, we were getting faded and having fun. I also wanted to take advantage of the nationwide camping opportunities, & discounted hall rental that they offer members at discounted rates.
When I joined, I didn't want to be "involved" but after going to events and meeting such wonderful people, I'm glad I did get involved. It's been a very rewarding journey so far. I've learned a lot about our community and have met so many great people in a short time. I'm lucky to be surrounded by a like-minded group of volunteers who care about people, who pour their hearts, energy, time, and focus on helping others.
I invite everyone from Burbank and beyond to join their local Elks lodge and help their community become stronger by getting involved. Elk's are a fantastic community of members who gather daily to socialize and develop new ideas to help raise awareness (and funds) that profit our local community.
B.P.O.E is a nonprofit organization that gives so much to their city, veterans, and especially disabled children. Elks love having fun, to forage in the great outdoors, and party like a mid-flight "Jolly Corks" liberated from the constraints of a Champagne bottle! Each year B.P.O.E. gives millions in scholarships, and help veterans, scouts, school kids, and families in need.
Our local Burbank Elks #1497 Lodge has ample parking & 4 overnight camping spots (@$15/night w/water & power) available to members. A large bar, w/3 TVs, CA.Lottery and scratchers sales (including Hot Spot), a weight room, sauna, showers, a GIANT social hall and boasts a dozen world class heated Carom and traditional billiards tables. Along with a former Top-5 world champion who manages the billiards room and hosts competitions.
Meetings are held every Wednesday @7pm (for card carrying members). Bar opens daily at 3pm and Wednesday night dinners begin at 5:30pm. Dinners usually include soup, salad, bread, main dish, and desert. Drinks can be purchased at the bar either cash or credit and taken with you to dinner (no table service) Sunday breakfast is open to everyone, and we also host special events on holidays and provide hall rental for parties, weddings, memorials, social club events, etc.
Money raised at these events goes to help the community and pay for building maintenance and pay the few employees who keep the place running. Secure entry via key card, and CCT recording. kept locked to provide security, verify membership, and peace of mind.
There is a catch to becoming an Elk:
You must be an American Citizen
You must believe in God
You cannot have a criminal record
You must pay your membership fees, they help to keep the organization going. Burbank fees are $85"
